Prior to fitting contact lenses, Dr. Heffler will preform a comprehensive eye exam. This provides her with your most current prescription and determines if you have any eye health problems which may effect contact lens wear.
Additionally, corneal topography is measured. This mapping provides very detailed and precise measurements of the surface of your eyes. All of this information is used to determine the best contact lens choice for your lifestyle and preferences.
Whether you are nearsighted or farsighted, or if you have astigmatism, many contact lens choices are available today. For an irregular eye surface, soft "toric" lenses or gas permeable lenses can be used. Many lenses come in a disposable or throw way option limiting the risk of eye health changes.
Wearing bifocal glasses? Dr. Heffler also fits many multifocal lenses which aid distance and near vision. An additional option is monovision whereby one eye is corrected for far vision, the other for near.
Other specialty lenses including scleral lenses for eye health conditions such as keratoconus, post LASIK and corneal transplants. Dr. Heffler is current on the latest technology for scleral lenses and is a member of the Scleral Lens Society.
Part time or full time, contact lenses can provide great vision for all your needs!
